My MUSE | Scarlett Wood

Hi everyone, Olivia here to introduce this week’s My MUSE: the grounded, polished, and remarkably driven Scarlett Wood
Scarlett has carved out a remarkable career in luxury real estate, where her signature blend of integrity, insight, and unwavering professionalism has earned her deep trust among clients in both Auckland and the Southern Lakes. For her, luxury isn’t defined by price tags—it’s about creating an experience that feels personal, considered, and exceptional from start to finish.
Alongside her thriving property business, Scarlett also helms The Luxury Network NZ, bringing together the country’s leading high-end brands through curated events and partnerships. It’s a lot to juggle, especially as a mother of two, but Scarlett approaches her packed days with purpose—and just the right amount of polish.
Whether she’s walking Takapuna Beach at sunrise or donning a sharply tailored Veronica Beard blazer for a big meeting, Scarlett embodies a kind of grace-meets-grit energy we deeply admire at MUSE. She’s stylish, smart, and sharp—but always grounded in a sense of who she is and what she stands for.
I sat down with Scarlett to talk style, substance, and the joy of a good croissant (preferably by the lake in Queenstown)...
You’ve built such an impressive career in luxury real estate. What’s been your not-so-secret weapon along the way?
I think it’s staying true to my core values—integrity, care, trust, knowledge, and authenticity. I believe in going above and beyond for my clients, because true luxury lies in the experience we deliver. Obviously it goes without saying we must exhibit professionalism and knowledge, but in my business, we live by the saying “Luxury is an experience, not a price point”.
You’re known for your love of fine tailoring — Veronica Beard pieces in particular. What’s your go-to power combo when you want to feel unstoppable?
A nice tailored jacket would be my go-to for important meetings. I have them in different colors, fabrics for different seasons and occasions. A blazer with a nice cut is so versatile, from day to evening, professional to smart casual and chic. Ie, Blazer, camisole and dress pants for the office, blazer with jeans on a casual Friday, blazer over my shoulder in the evening with a dressy top or a dress. It just adds that sophistication to the look.
You split your time between Auckland and Arrowtown — two very different energies. How do those two places inspire or energise you, both in work and in life?
Some of you may know I have spent some of my high school years in Queenstown, I am an Alumni of Wakatipu High School. So I always have that close connection with Queenstown. Obviously working with a lot of international investors, Auckland and Queenstown are the prime destinations when it comes to property investments hence I do fly down to the Southern Lakes frequently. It’s not all glamorous when you’re travelling for work as most people see on social media. There are lot of early hours, pre and post trip preparations and follow ups etc, but while I’m there, I always try to squeeze in some ME time, ie morning walks along the lake, a coffee/croissant (sometimes a pie from Ferg) sitting on the pier soaking in the view, it’s become a routine. I refer to that as my “Happy Place”. Work life balance is so important, even if it’s just a quick recharge.
What does a typical day in your world actually look like?
Just like many working moms, I have two children so they keep me busy 24/7. I have my realestate work that’s also a 24/7 and 365 days business because I talk to clients in different time zones. Then I also have my luxury events business - The Luxury Network NZ where we host/facilitate events for luxury brands. So morning and afternoons are kids, realestate and evenings are mostly events and client relationship engagements. I feel incredibly lucky that I genuinely love both businesses that I’m involved in so absolutely no complaints on the crazy schedules juggling my life.
You’ve really woven luxury and lifestyle into your everyday — what’s one small indulgence you treat yourself to on the regular?
A sunrise walk on Takapuna Beach or the Westhaven Promenade or evening gym session. A little bit of ME time is always a nice way to look after yourself. It’s a great way for your body and soul and at the same time keeps me in shape and looking good.
What is on your current MUSE wish list?
Absolutely love the new Bernadette collections. So many beautiful statement pieces and I love the classy, elegant design but how it also has that “hey, look at me” vibe. I’m also in love with Solace London gowns. You can never have too many evening gowns and as we head into winter months, more evening gala events are on the horizon.
And finally, finish this sentence: A woman is most powerful when she...
Can navigate the world with both the softness/grace of her femininity and yet assertive and stands firm when needed.
