My MUSE | Stella Tetro
Hello everyone,
Olivia here, to introduce you to this week’s MyMUSE – the colourful, gorgeous and totally inspiring Stella Tetro.
For anyone who doesn’t recognise her, Stella is a much-loved member of our very own team MUSE. Located in our Ponsonby Boutique (since the day we opened our doors in 2017), Stella works her magic as one of our incredible in-store stylists – putting her impeccable taste, exceptional eye and innate sense of style to good use.
Intuitive and warm, Stella has a way of knowing what people want before they even know it themselves. She has an incredible knack for discovering exciting new brands, puts together outfits like nobody else, and has an endless supply of styling hacks: our go-to guru for garment care, washing tricks and fabric knowledge. Hilarious, fun and endlessly creative, Stella is an asset to our team and a joy to be around. A muse, in every sense of the word.
I sat down with Stella (between impressive styling sessions) to talk inspiration, accessories, and the importance of creativity.
Stella, hello! Could you tell us how you got into the world of fashion?
I have always enjoyed fashion. I used to make my own clothes growing up – a very helpful skill to have when alterations are needed! My mum is a wonderful dressmaker, it has also been so inspiring to watch her make patterns and create something out of nothing. These days, cooking is my creative outlet at home.
What do you love most about working in the fashion industry?
I would say that the creativity of the industry is what I love most about it. As a person who thrives in creative situations, I feel as though I’ve really landed in the perfect industry for me.
Tell me about your personal style. Has it changed over time?
In terms of my personal style, I’d describe it as relaxed and comfortable, but still luxe. I love natural fibres, pieces that are classic with a twist and texture. Love texture. Good quality is very important – pieces that will stay in your wardrobe for years, but are in no way boring! My personal style has, unfortunately, became more expensive over time (laughs), but with that has come a focus on longevity within the pieces I buy, which is never a bad thing!
Who are some of your favourite designers we have available at MUSE and why?
My favourite designers at the moment would have to be Tibi, Khaite, Saloni, Matteau and La DoubleJ. I adore each brand and their timeless everyday pieces that can be transformed by adding a shoe or a bag.
What do you love most about working at MUSE?
I absolutely love working at MUSE. We have the most amazing team of ladies, starting from a very generous Olivia to our gorgeous stylists to our amazing online staff … everyone is so much fun, and we’re all very passionate about what we do. It really is a fabulous team.
If your house was on fire and you could only save one item from your wardrobe, what would it be?
It would have to be my new Khaite Leather Jacket. Gorgeous.
What is currently on your MUSE wishlist?
The Victoria Beckham Jumbo Tote that has just arrived in-store, or the Khaite Tote! Or maybe the Victoria Beckham Tuxedo Jumpsuit.
